In an attempt to mitigate environmental impact, the government has meticulously outlined a roster of disposable plastic items that will no longer be allowed for import, manufacture, or marketing within the Maldives.
The impending restriction on plastic water bottles of one liter and smaller marks the final phase of the ban on single-use plastic items in Maldives.
Environment Ministry declared that the sale of plastic water bottles measuring one liter or less will be prohibited starting from March 1 next year.
Consequently, this prohibition extends to the sale of 500ML plastic water bottles, aligning with the comprehensive directives under the Environmental Protection and Conservation Act implemented last year.
