PNC to Hold Primary on 27 December Ahead of Local Council Polls
PNC’s campaign manager and parliamentary group leader, Ibrahim Falah.
People’s National Congress (PNC) has announced it will hold a primary election on 27 December to select its candidates for the upcoming local council elections.
The party’s campaign manager and parliamentary group leader, Ibrahim Falah, made the announcement at a press conference at the PNC office yesterday, saying the party had received applications from a large number of members seeking to contest the local council polls.
Falah said the internal ballot would be conducted “transparently” and in a manner intended to ensure fairness and equal treatment for all candidates.
He also outlined a complaints process, stating that candidates would be able to submit concerns during the primary via WhatsApp and Viber. He added that the phone numbers designated for complaints would be made public to allow candidates to identify the relevant channels.
“Therefore, if they have any complaints or issues during the election, they can submit them via Viber or WhatsApp to the party,” Falah said.
According to Falah, the party is also working to clarify candidate details and determine which applicants meet the required criteria.
He further said PNC membership had increased ahead of the local council elections, claiming the party’s membership has now surpassed 70,000. However, the Elections Commission places the party’s membership at 68,665.
