Police Arrest Two Following Speeding Car Chase in Hulhumalé

Police arrested two individuals after a speeding car failed to stop when requested during a chase in Hulhumalé last night.
Officers spotted the silver vehicle near the beach in Hulhumalé Phase 1, close to the two-phase bridge. The driver, an 18-year-old from Henveiru Filimage named Aik Haisham Hassan, did not have a licence and ignored police orders to stop, speeding through two areas of Hulhumalé.

During the pursuit, one of the two police officers on a motorcycle sustained injuries and received medical treatment. Hulhumalé Hospital confirmed the officer has since been discharged but will be referred to a specialist.
A woman arrested in connection with the incident has been released; her identity has not been disclosed. The police are continuing their investigation.
Reckless driving remains a concern in the Male’ area, with recent incidents resulting in fatalities.
