Police Arrest Two Men and Minor in Drug Raid in Malé
Maldives Police Service have arrested two men and a 17-year-old minor following a drug enforcement operation prompted by intelligence reports of suspected drug use and trade.
The operation, carried out under a court warrant, targeted a house in the Galolhu ward of Malé, known as G. Swing. Officers discovered 1 gram of heroin, 0.75 grams of methamphetamine, and 43.29 grams of cannabis. Additionally, police confiscated MVR 24,110 in cash from the premises.
The suspects were identified as Ahmed Safneez, 41, from Ma. Cotton Villa, and Mohamed Ivaan, 23, from New Valley, Dhoodigan, Fuvahmulah. Following their arrests, Safneez was remanded in custody for 10 days, while Ivaan received a 15-day remand order. The minor involved was released without being taken to court.
Police have stated that an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
