Police Establishes 19 New Posts Across Island Communities

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has initiated the establishment of 19 police posts across various islands in the Maldives within the last three months.
These new police posts are part of the government’s ‘Hafuthaa 14’ roadmap, which aims to ensure a police presence in all residential islands.
According to police officials, the rollout of these posts commenced in December, with a total of three posts being established. This was followed by the opening of seven posts in January and nine in February.
The islands where the police posts have been established include HA. Filladhoo, HDh. Kurin’bi, HDh. Nellaidhoo, Sh. Lhaimagu, N. Lhohi, N. Henbadhoo, N. Maalhendhoo, N. Milandhoo, B. Maalhos, B. Kihaadhoo, B. Kudairkulu, B. Hithaadhoo, V. Thinadhoo, V. Fulidhoo, Dh. Hulhudheli, Th. Vandhoo, Th. Gaadhiffushi, L. Maabaidhoo, and GA. Kondey, with the latest post being inaugurated in Kondey on Thursday.
The police force has underscored its commitment to enhancing neighbourhood policing and ensuring a police presence in all inhabited islands, with the objective of fostering closer engagement with the local community.
