The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has conducted an information session addressing internet-based crimes at the Faafu Atoll Education Center.
The session, held on January 25, 2013, aimed to educate attendees, including local and foreign teachers, on the risks associated with online activities and how to safeguard against them.
Organised by the F. Nilandhoo Police Station, the session covered various topics related to internet crimes, fraud, and money laundering. Attendees were provided with valuable insights into protecting themselves from potential threats, including the importance of not sharing sensitive information such as OTP codes and cash card details with anyone.
Among the key highlights of the session was guidance on recognising fraudulent schemes designed to deceive individuals into parting with their money or personal belongings. Participants were also briefed on exercising caution when making online purchases and advised to use secure passwords for their social media accounts.
A total of 42 teachers participated in the session, which served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering a safer online environment within the community.
