Police Record 45 Accidents in Male’ and Surrounding Areas, Three People Injured

Maldives Police have reported 45 road accidents across Male’, the Sinamale’ Bridge, and the highway between 16 and 22 November, resulting in three injuries and damage to 37 vehicles.
According to police data, 42 accidents occurred in Male’, while three were recorded on the Sinamale’ Bridge and highway. The highest number of incidents took place on Thursday, with 10 accidents, followed by eight last Saturday.
Of the total, two accidents led to serious injuries, while the remaining 43 were classified as minor. Most accidents occurred during daytime hours, with 33 incidents reported between morning and evening, and 12 occurring at night.
The most common types of collisions involved motorcycles and cars, followed by motorcycle-to-motorcycle crashes. While last week’s accidents were largely non-fatal, serious incidents continue to occur. On 10 November, a young man was killed in a collision between two motorcycles in the second phase of Hulhumale’.
Police continue to publish weekly accident statistics to raise public awareness and promote safer driving practices.
