Police Recover Over 100 Stolen Motorcycles In September

The Maldives Police Service recovered 109 stolen motorcycles in September, according to statistics released by Malé Front Policing on its operations to maintain road safety and security in the capital.

The recovered motorcycles are valued at MVR 6.8 million. Police also retrieved MVR 588,822 in stolen cash from 20 different cases during the same period.

In addition, officers recovered 13 mobile phones valued at MVR 154,526 and eight other electronic devices worth MVR 32,000. Other recovered items, with a total value of MVR 43,115, were linked to 39 separate cases.

Malé Front Policing attended to 109 cases in September. Theft accounted for the majority, with 71 cases reported, followed by 16 cases of violence, 12 robberies and 10 road accidents.

Police statistics show that theft remains the most commonly reported offence this year, with a total of 2,685 cases filed so far.
