Police have seized more than 200 abandoned and unused vehicles from the streets of Malé City as part of efforts to clear public roads and improve accessibility for both pedestrians and motorists.

The Maldives Police Service reported that 208 vehicles were removed yesterday, including 168 motorcycles and 40 four-wheelers. The operation focused on vehicles that had been left unattended for extended periods, blocking roads and public spaces.

The removal was carried out in coordination with the Malé City Council and the Ministry of Public Works. Authorities said the initiative is part of ongoing measures to maintain safety, cleanliness, and accessibility across the city.

Police continue to tow illegally parked vehicles and clear abandoned ones in Malé to ease congestion and reduce potential hazards on the roads.
