Police Seize Over 140 Cans Of Beer From Pickup In Hulhumalé

The Maldives Police Service has reported the seizure of 144 cans of beer from a pickup truck in Hulhumalé Phase I.

Police officers on patrol attempted to stop the vehicle on Sunday morning after observing it speeding through the area. Despite signals and warnings, the driver failed to comply and continued driving erratically across several roads. The vehicle was later intercepted and brought to a halt by officers.

A search of the pickup led to the discovery of 144 cans of beer, which were subsequently confiscated. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Indian national Fasal Rahmna Matumal, was arrested on suspicion of possession and sale of alcohol.

The case is now under investigation by the Maldives Police Service. Authorities continue to highlight substance-related offences as a pressing social concern in the country, with migrant workers frequently reported among those involved in such cases.
