The Police, citing President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s declaration of this year as a year of infrastructure development, stated that the agreements cover 75 infrastructure projects. Under the contracts, 15 projects have been allocated to MTCC, 40 to Fenaka, and 20 to RDC.

According to the Police, when the current administration assumed office, 70 residential islands lacked a police presence. The newly signed agreements aim to establish dedicated police facilities on all islands, except those where residents will be relocated under the centralisation policy.

The Police stated that upon completion of the project, half of the residential islands in the Maldives will have modern police facilities. This is expected to enhance service efficiency, reduce budgetary expenses, and improve response times.

The project will include the development of regional and atoll-level police facilities, island police stations, police posts, and accommodation blocks for police officers.
