Police Tow 21 Vehicles Parked in Obstructive Areas in Hulhumalé

The Maldives Police Service has towed 21 vehicles parked in areas obstructing pedestrians in Hulhumalé.
Police said the operation, conducted between 7 and 8 November, resulted in the towing of 18 motorbikes and three cars. Of these, nine motorbikes were towed for being driven without a valid licence, while four were removed for reckless driving.
Another three motorbikes and one car were towed for operating with altered registration numbers. Two cars were seized in connection with ongoing investigations, and two motorbikes were towed for unauthorised modifications.
During the same period, police issued 34 fines — 30 for motorbikes and four for cars.

Police statistics show 2,544 traffic accidents have been reported so far this year, highlighting growing road safety concerns. In a recent incident, a car in Hulhumalé crashed into a shop after losing control while trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle, colliding with two motorbikes before impact. Two individuals were later taken into custody in connection with the accident.
