The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has urged the public to prepare for increased traffic around Velana International Airport on 26, 27, 29 and 30 May 2025, as large groups of Hajj pilgrims are scheduled to depart on those dates.

In a public announcement, the police said traffic congestion is likely to intensify due to the planned departures and advised all other travellers to factor in possible delays when heading to the airport. To manage the expected increase in road traffic, additional police officers will be deployed in the area to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles.
