In a statement released yesterday, Fenaka said that the fire broke out in one of the two annexes installed at the island to enhance provision of electricity. The fire did not reach the second annex. They further said that their initial visual investigations have found that one of the five engines used in the affected powerhouse was damaged, and that they are continuing to fix the issues caused by the fire. The company confirmed in the statement that water services were resumed yesterday itself, and that a special team is observing the water and sewerage system to identify whether there are any other issues.

Fenaka has not yet revealed the cause of the fire, but the company, along with the Maldives Police Service, has said that investigation into the incident is ongoing.
