The Maldives National Party (MNP) has announced its collaboration with the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and the People’s National Congress (PNC) for the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
This decision was disclosed by MNP President Mohamed Nazim during a council meeting, following concerns expressed by some members regarding the clarity of the coalition agreement with the PPM/PNC.

Nazim revealed that the agreement, which includes a special provision on elections, has been reached with President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
As per the agreement, the three parties have committed to jointly participating in all elections in the Maldives over the next five years.
“If an election is scheduled, all parties will rally behind the winner of the primary,” clarified Nazim, shedding light on the accord signed with the PPM/PNC on the 12th of last month.
The Election Commission of Maldives (ECM) has determined that the next mayoral election will be held in January, followed by parliamentary elections scheduled for March or April.
The details of the PPM-PNC agreement will soon be made available to the party’s national council members. Nazim stressed the importance of council members being well-informed about the provisions of the agreement as they prepare to contest the upcoming elections.
