President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has paid tribute to teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, describing teaching as a noble and honourable profession whose value goes beyond material wealth.

In a message posted on his official X account, President Muizzu said the dedication of educators represents an invaluable service that benefits both this world and the hereafter. He noted that through their guidance, education, and care, teachers play a vital role in shaping today’s students into the future leaders and changemakers the nation aspires to see.

“Today, schools have strong and brave children who will one day carry the nation’s flag. These children will grow up to be as strong as the Maldivian people with the guidance, education, and care provided by their teachers,” he wrote, highlighting the role of teachers in nurturing the next generation.

President Muizzu reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting teachers’ professional development and welfare across the country, extending warm greetings and prayers for their well-being and that of their families.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also shared a message on X, describing teachers as nurturers and guardians who pass on knowledge and skills from one generation to the next. She said that without teachers, society would lack a future, culture, and hope.

“Each teacher is a mother, a father, and a protector for their students. Teachers are the ones who transfer knowledge from one generation to another. A society without teachers has no future, no culture, no vitality, and no hope,” the First Lady stated.

World Teachers’ Day, observed annually on 5 October, celebrates the contributions of teachers and the essential role they play in building strong, educated, and resilient societies.
