The event drew attendees, including Ahmed Mahloof, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, alongside other cabinet ministers, sports institution representatives, Members of Parliament, and members of the public.
At the IOIG 2023 held in Madagascar from August 25 to September 3, 2023, the Maldivian contingent amassed a total of 28 medals, including a tally of five gold, nine silver, and 14 bronze medals. This performance represents an improvement compared to their showing at the IOIG 2019, where they secured 15 medals.
Furthermore, two athletes with disabilities won bronze medals in the 100-meter run event.
