President Announces Condolence Book in Honour of Late Hassan Sobir

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced yesterday that a Condolence Book will be opened to honour the late Hassan Sobir, a recipient of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin (O.D.R.I.) and a dedicated public servant who served the nation for over 38 years.

As Sobir held the longest tenure at the Ministry of Tourism, the Condolence Book will be placed at the Ministry of Tourism and Environment. Members of the public may pay their respects from Thursday, 31 July to Thursday, 7 August, excluding public holidays, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Sobir passed away on Monday and is remembered for his sincerity, dedication, and lasting contributions to the state and people of the Maldives. He played a key role in the development of the tourism sector, working to promote Maldivian tourism internationally and helping to strengthen the country’s foreign relations.

Shortly after his passing, President Muizzu announced that Maldivian flags would be flying at half-mast for three days, starting from Tuesday, to honour Sobir.
