President Designates Dhaalu Valla as Part of Kudahuvadhoo

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially designated the island of Valla in Dhaalu Atoll as part of Kudahuvadhoo, of the same atoll. The change was formalised through a presidential decree, amending the official list of inhabited islands. 

The designation, implemented via Presidential Decree No. 21/2025 under the Decentralisation Act (1/2010), aligns with a commitment made by the President during a meeting with residents of Kudahuvadhoo on 5 March 2025. The President’s Office said the decree’s purpose is to allow the use of Valla to support the economic and social development of Kudahuvadhoo.

Following the enactment of the decree, the updated list of inhabited islands has been officially published in the Government Gazette.
