The fuel skid is the first of its kind to be introduced across islands in the Maldives and aims to provide fishermen with fuel at affordable prices, in line with government policy to address concerns within the fisheries sector. The project has been contracted to state-owned State Trading Organisation (STO), which has committed to establishing 18 fuel skids on islands designated by the government.

The President and First Lady also planted trees under the Five Million Tree Programme, a national pledge to plant five million trees across the country. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to protecting fragile ecosystems and mitigating the impacts of climate change, in line with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment’s strategic action plan. To date, 967,431 plants of various species have been planted nationwide under the programme.

As part of the visit, President Muizzu inaugurated the new building of the Raa Dhuvaafaru Health Centre. The two-storey facility includes specialist consultation and counselling rooms, radiology and scanning services, a public health unit, laboratory, staff lounges, a conference hall, private wards, and an eight-bed general ward. He also inaugurated RTL bus services on the island to improve public transport access, as well as a Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) ATM in Dhuvaafaru.

The visit also included the initiation and signing of several development projects. These included the harbour extension project, a new police station, road development works, water and sewerage networks for newly reclaimed areas, and a housing development project. The President also attended the initiation of a renewable energy project and the launch of a solar energy portal that allows residents to apply for solar panel installations.

In addition, President Muizzu attended the initiation of Phase Two of the land reclamation project, the upgrade of the waste management centre, the launch of community sports facilities, and the Rahavaru Competition 2025, a traditional culinary event showcasing local heritage and community participation.
