President Dr Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the Youth Hub on Thursday in Malé.
The facility is the first Youth Third Space developed by this administration, and is designed to empower young people, foster skill development, and strengthen social connections within the community, according to the President’s Office.
The hub was established on the site of the former Muleeaage vehicle garage and officially opened during a special evening ceremony attended by the President and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed. Cabinet ministers, senior officials, diplomats, Youth Advisory Board members, and numerous young people were also present.
The President’s Office said this hub is equipped with spaces for artistic expression, a music recording studio, and a mental well-being area called the “Happiness Lounge”. It also provides a variety of youth-focused services, including workshops, skill-exchange sessions, virtual reality training, boot camps, culinary events, and interactive community hubs. Students can access the study halls using their student ID cards free of charge.
The Youth Hub has been designed as a youth-friendly, eco-conscious space that supports learning, personal growth, and social interaction. The President and First Lady toured the facility after the inauguration and received a briefing on the services offered.
The initiative stems from the Cabinet’s 18 November 2024 decision to address the shortage of designated youth spaces and transform the area into a centre for community development.
