President Mohamed Muizzu has inspected the progress of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project in Malé.

During the visit, he was received by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Abdulla Muththalib and Managing Director of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Retd.) Ahmed Saudee.

The President reviewed progress on Phase One of the project, focusing on segments two through five, which extend from Izzudheen Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal.

The redevelopment includes resurfacing Boduthakurufaanu Magu with asphalt and widening sections of the road. The first phase involved land reclamation between the Local Market area and Izzudheen Jetty near Republic Square to enable the development of a four-lane road. This section was completed and opened in December 2025.

The second segment, covering the southern side of the road from Izzudheen Jetty to the Fish Market, was completed and opened to the public in February 2026.

The project was awarded to MTCC on 9 April 2025 and aims to transform Boduthakurufaanu Magu into a modern urban corridor. Once completed, the road will feature an upgraded drainage system and widened lanes to help ease traffic congestion and improve mobility for motorists and pedestrians.
