President Muizzu assured that his Administration would prioritise the provision of essential facilities for the school, with construction set to commence within three months.

The President also announced that construction of a handball field on the island would begin imminently. He added that lighting would be installed at the football ground and the Fitness and Recreation Centre activated, ensuring the timely completion of sports facilities in close coordination with the contractor.

In addition, the transfer of four hectares of land already acquired on Bodufolhudhoo is expected to be finalised by the end of next year, with all work undertaken in line with the island’s coastal protection measures.

Concluding his address, President Muizzu assured residents that development initiatives for Bodufolhudhoo would advance at pace, delivering tangible benefits to the local community.

Earlier in the day, the President met with the Bodufolhudhoo Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions at the Bodufolhudhoo Council Secretariat to discuss the island’s development priorities.

Council members highlighted the importance of the new housing initiative and called on the Government to address sanitation challenges, initiate integrated tourism development, and designate a picnic island for residents. The Bodufolhudhoo School underlined the need for a multipurpose hall, while the council requested the development of the health centre to provide sixteen-hour operational services, including X-ray diagnostics.

President Muizzu assured the Council that the Government would work towards practical solutions for the issues raised. He also provided updates on ongoing development projects, accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises.
