President Muizzu Announces Double in Monthly Allowance for Huffaz

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced yesterday that the government will double the monthly allowance for Huffaz from 1 July 2025.
In a post shared on his official ‘X’ account, President Muizzu stated that the Cabinet had decided during its meeting this week to double the current monthly allowance for Huffaz, which now stands at MVR 2,000. From 1 July onwards, Huffaz will receive MVR 4,000 each month. The President’s Office noted that this decision fulfills a key pledge made by President Muizzu during his presidential campaign.

“Training Hafizs and enhancing the importance placed on them is essential for fostering our love for the Holy Quran,” President Muizzu said in his post.

The President’s Office also confirmed that the government is actively developing waqf structures to ensure sustainable funding for Quranic education and related initiatives. This effort forms part of a broader national strategy to elevate Quranic literacy and appreciation throughout the country.
