President Muizzu emphasised his Administration’s commitment to developing Haa Dhaalu atoll, which has historically been an underserved tourism region, into a thriving destination. He noted that several lagoons in the area have already been allocated for tourism development, with regulatory flexibilities introduced to attract investment.

Addressing key infrastructural priorities for Naivaadhoo, the President assured residents that the harbour project will be completed in line with community expectations. He added that the island’s health centre will be upgraded to include laboratory services under the upcoming national budget and confirmed that an ambulance will be provided ahead of schedule.

The President also announced plans for road development and the construction of a modern football field to meet the recreational needs of residents. In addition, a new generator will be procured to resolve existing power supply issues.

During the ceremony, an agreement was signed for the Naivaadhoo land reclamation and coastal protection project, which will be implemented by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

President Muizzu also met with the Naivaadhoo Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions to discuss the island’s most pressing development needs. The meeting, held at Naivaadhoo School, saw council members express satisfaction with the progress of the island’s port expansion project while proposing further modifications to enhance its utility.

The discussions addressed key challenges facing the community, including the shortage of space at the health centre, the absence of an ambulance, and the need for additional power generators to ensure a reliable electricity supply.

The President assured the Council that the Government would carefully consider their concerns and work towards practical solutions. He also provided updates on ongoing development projects. Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises accompanied the President at the meeting.
