President Muizzu Appoints Two Members to HRCM

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed two members to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).

Mohamed Shafeeg Mahmood and Ahmed Magsoom were formally sworn in during a ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning. Both took the oath of office before Supreme Court Justice Mohamed Saleem, after which the President presented them with their official letters of appointment.

The Parliament approved Magsoom for the commission on 27 August, with 58 of the 62 participating lawmakers voting in favour. Shafeeg was approved earlier, on 18 August, before Parliament went into recess, receiving the support of 60 lawmakers.
