President Muizzu Concludes Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Tour with Focus on Infrastructure, Education, and Community Development

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu returned to Malé yesterday following his visit to the inhabited islands of Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.

As part of the tour, the President visited ten inhabited islands: Dhan’gethi, Dhidhdhoo, Omadhoo, Dhigurah, Maamigili, Mandhoo, Fenfushi, Hangnaameedhoo, Mahibadhoo, and Kun’burudhoo. On the tour, he met with Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDCs), and institutional heads to discuss community priorities and ongoing development projects. The President also engaged directly with residents to address their concerns and share updates on national initiatives.

Accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from key government institutions, the President inaugurated several projects spanning the urbanisation, housing, education, health, and wellness sectors. Among the highlights was the launch of Bank of Maldives ATM services across multiple islands and the completion of nationwide passport and ID card issuance.

During the visit, President Muizzu reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to sustainable and equitable development, pledging to continue delivering essential services to island communities.

At Kun’burudhoo, President Muizzu signed agreements for land reclamation, harbour development, and a school project awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Limited (MTCC). He also officially handed over the Fofalha Gau lagoon to the island council, noting that reclamation work would begin in November, with a housing project to follow next year.

In Mandhoo, the President prioritised education development, overseeing the signing of an agreement to construct 12 new classrooms and a multipurpose hall at Mandhoo School, with work scheduled to commence in November 2025. He also inaugurated new health, sports, and banking facilities to enhance local services.
