Today, he visited Maalhos, where President Muizzu announced that financing had been secured for infrastructure projects requiring rock boulders, enabling harbour development to proceed. He pledged to relocate the powerhouse to reclaimed land once the harbour is complete, incorporate erosion control measures, and expand the health centre. He also committed to completing the football ground, fitness and recreation centre, and outdoor gym within the year, while addressing space constraints at Maalhos School through public consultation.

Across his addresses, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to genuine decentralisation and community empowerment. He stressed the importance of grassroots engagement, the role of local councils in delivering the national development vision, and the Government’s pledge to work closely with communities to drive sustainable progress.

Accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises, the President reviewed ongoing and planned projects for each island. Key highlights included inaugurating Bank of Maldives ATM services across all inhabited islands in the atoll and commencing construction of police stations in Maalhos, Fehendhoo, Thulhaadhoo, and Goidhoo.

He also confirmed the handover of Maamaduvvaree to Hithaadhoo and Innafushi to Fulhadhoo, announced land reclamation works for Thulhaadhoo Airport, and unveiled plans to upgrade Dharavandhoo Airport. Multiple development agreements were signed during the trip, covering infrastructure, health, education, tourism, and sports.
