President Muizzu Details Housing Projects and Community Priorities in Maafannu

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu outlined the government’s housing initiatives and ongoing projects aimed at addressing the challenges faced by residents of Maafannu, the most densely populated ward in Malé City.
During a community meeting held in Thaajudheen School on Thursday evening, the President reflected on local housing pressures and presented options for residents who previously received one-bedroom apartments but now seek improved accommodations. He emphasised that the Government remains committed to honesty and accountability in delivering tangible development, ensuring that no individual is left behind.

President Muizzu also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects and future plans for Malé City, highlighting efforts to enhance public services. He reiterated that overcoming national challenges requires every individual to act with integrity and responsibility, expressing solidarity with the community.
The President addressed wider national concerns, including the drug menace and illegal business operations by expatriates. He pointed to recent legislative reforms, including the introduction of capital punishment for major drug traffickers, and policies governing the deportation of expatriates conducting unlicensed businesses.
He noted that addressing challenges such as illegal business practices and limited opportunities for Maldivian youth requires society to acknowledge its role in sustaining these issues. President Muizzu stressed the importance of creating employment opportunities in both government and private sectors and encouraged communities to support youth employment.
The President also emphasised the Maldives 2.0 digital transformation initiative as a key step in reducing corruption and strengthening governance. He reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to addressing public concerns, while stressing that national progress depends on the collective honesty, accountability, and active participation of the Maldivian people.
