President Muizzu, First Lady Cast Votes in Ongoing Polls

President Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed cast their votes in today’s polls, as voting continues across the Maldives.
President Muizzu voted at a ballot box stationed at Thaajudheen School, while First Lady Sajidha Mohamed cast her vote in a ballot box held in Ameeniyya School. Speaking to the media after casting his vote, Muizzu emphasised that voting is a fundamental right of the people, urging all eligible voters to exercise their legal right.
Voting is currently underway across the Maldives, with the public casting ballots in three separate votes: the Local Council Election, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) Election, and a public referendum seeking views on aligning the dates of parliamentary and presidential elections.
In the ongoing Local Council and Women’s Development Committee Elections, and Public Referendum, a total of 294,876 people are eligible to vote, including 144,506 women and 150,370 men. The Elections Commision of Maldives (ECM) has placed 588 ballot boxes across the country, with the Maldives Police Service (MPS) deployed to maintain security.
