President Muizzu Highlights Strengthening Maldives-China Partnership in Chinese New Year Greetings

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu expressed confidence that the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the Maldives and China will strengthen further, advancing shared goals as trusted partners, in a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping for the Chinese New Year.
In his message, President Muizzu extended warm greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, reflecting on the spirit of vitality, determination and forward momentum symbolised by the Year of the Fire Horse. He said the year represents resilience and purposeful progress and expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries will continue to deepen, advancing common objectives as close friends in development.
In his letter to Premier Li Qiang, President Muizzu highlighted the strong ties of friendship and collaboration between the Maldives and China and expressed optimism that the year ahead will bring new opportunities for mutual benefit.
In both letters, he reaffirmed the Maldives’ adherence to the One-China Principle and emphasised the relationship’s foundation of mutual respect and trust. He also extended personal best wishes for the health and happiness of both leaders and for the continued prosperity of the people of China.
On his official X account, President Muizzu acknowledged China’s remarkable development achievements and wished its people even brighter days ahead.
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, marks the beginning of the lunar new year and is widely celebrated across China and Chinese communities worldwide.
