President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the construction of Masjid ad-Da’wah at a groundbreaking ceremony held on Thursday at Maafannu, Muiveyodhoshuge’ (Boduge’) in Malé.
According to the President’s Office, the new mosque, spanning 8,973.33 square feet, will accommodate up to 1,250 worshippers. Designed to serve both religious and educational functions, the facility will feature a main prayer hall, a library, three classrooms, a conference hall, and an administrative office. The design also incorporates accessibility features to ensure inclusivity for individuals with disabilities.
The project, scheduled for completion by April 2027, is privately funded by Mohamed Adhil, Nizar Ahmed, Zeeba Saeed, and Rahmathullah.
Once completed, Masjid ad-Da’wah is expected to enhance community engagement and provide additional space for religious education in the capital.
