President Muizzu Inaugurates New Maldives Correctional Service Headquarters

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu officially inaugurated the newly constructed headquarters of the Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) yesterday, marking the establishment of the first purpose-built facility for the service.
According to the President’s Office, the headquarters, located within the Hulhumalé Prison compound, spans 12,000 square feet over two storeys and will house 15 departments and divisions, supporting 175 staff members. Upon arrival, President Muizzu was received by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, and MCS Commissioner Hussain Zareer, and was welcomed with an honour guard.
The inauguration included the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag and the MCS flag, followed by the official opening of the headquarters through a remote unveiling of the name plaque. President Muizzu also signed the visitors’ book and toured the premises.
Completed in 16 months, the new facility provides a dedicated space for the Maldives Correctional Service to operate efficiently and support its growing workforce.
