President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met today with members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on the Maldives at the House of Lords, during his official visit to the United Kingdom.
The meeting included an opening address by MP Yasmin Qureshi, Co-Chair of the APPG, who spoke about the international community’s role in supporting Small Island Developing States (SIDS), particularly through financial, technical, and institutional cooperation.
President Muizzu addressed the group, outlining the Maldives’ current areas of cooperation with the United Kingdom, including legal reform, climate adaptation, defence collaboration, and governance. He also noted existing cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries.
The session continued with discussions between participants on a range of bilateral issues. Those in attendance shared views on potential areas for continued engagement and explored ways to build on existing ties.
The engagement was part of the President’s wider visit to the UK, which includes meetings with government officials and other stakeholders.
