President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated that the Maldives strongly condemns the Israeli occupation government’s announcement of the so-called “Vision of Greater Israel” and firmly rejects its settlement and expansionist agenda.

In a post on his official X account, the President said the statement, containing inflammatory rhetoric, violates international law and undermines the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. He called for urgent, unified international action to protect Palestinian rights and end their suffering amid the escalating conflict.

“The Maldives stands unwavering with Palestine and reiterates its commitment to all efforts aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace,” the President said.

This latest statement follows his condemnation last week of the Israeli occupation authorities’ reported plan to seize control of Gaza, which he described as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a grave infringement on Palestinian self-determination. At the time, he warned that such actions would deepen the suffering in the occupied territories and threaten prospects for lasting peace and regional stability.
