President Muizzu to Make Official Visit to Germany Next Week

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to make an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany next week at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The visit, taking place from 9 to 13 February 2026, will see President Muizzu hold high-level talks with President Steinmeier and other senior German officials. The President’s Office stated that discussions will cover a range of issues of mutual interest and are expected to further strengthen the longstanding ties between the Maldives and Germany.

As part of the visit, President Muizzu will address Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, delivering a keynote on the Maldives’ experience in climate change adaptation. He is also scheduled to speak at the German Council on Foreign Relations, outlining the Maldives’ perspective on the role of the ocean in foreign policy.

President Muizzu will be accompanied by a high-level delegation of Cabinet ministers and business representatives. A business forum will be held during the visit to explore collaborative investment opportunities between the two countries.

The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Germany, formally established on 5 July 1966.
