In his statement, President Muizzu described the declaration as a powerful demonstration of international support for the Palestinian cause. He highlighted its emphasis on sustainable recovery for Palestine in the face of continued Israeli aggression, and the need to ensure the country’s economic stability and security.

“The Government and the people of the Republic of Maldives will continue to show firm and unwavering support for the independent and sovereign State of Palestine,” said the President, reaffirming the Maldives’ position based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital, in line with UN resolutions and international law.

President Muizzu’s remarks reflect the Maldives’ long-standing support for Palestinian statehood and underline the country’s commitment to international diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a lasting peace in the region.
