In accordance with the Presidential Transition Act (Law No. 05/2010), this office is designed to facilitate the President-elect in the execution of his duties and responsibilities during the transitional period.
The establishment of the ‘Office of the President-elect’ was formalised through directive No. 10/2023, issued by the President’s Office on Thursday.
The implementation of this initiative has already seen the appointment of Abdul Raheem Abdullah as the ‘Director-General of Transition’ by the Civil Services Commission (CSC), in accordance with the provisions of the Presidential Transition Act.
Solih had also entrusted Hussain Amir, Secretary of Corporate Services at the President’s Office, with the responsibility of managing this transition on behalf of the President’s Office.
Under the directives laid out, government agencies have been instructed to prepare essential information for the President-elect.
This is to ensure that the transfer of power that does not disrupt government operations or interrupt services provided to citizens.
Government agencies are mandated to transmit relevant documents to the ‘Office of the President-elect’ through the Government E-Letter Management System (GEMS).
Solih has called upon all personnel appointed by him to continue fulfilling their assigned duties and responsibilities until the conclusion of his current presidential term.
