President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has made a commitment to construct an international airport in GDh. Thinadhoo should the progression and global expansion of Kaadedhdhoo Airport falter.
As the country’s most seasoned regional airport, Kaadedhdhoo Airport has seen no significant advancements in its development and is currently witnessing a state of deterioration.
The Thinadhoo council has officially submitted a proposition to the government, proposing the dredging of a section of the Thinadhoo lagoon to accommodate the construction of an international airport.
During a rally held in the city, the President remarked, “The Economic Council reached two highly consequential verdicts last week.”
Furthermore, the President has pledged the enhancement of a leisure island within the Thinadhoo lagoon. Emphasising the recent inauguration of this service in the island, he mentioned that Atifah Gasim, who has just received her initial passport, will now have the opportunity to depart directly from the city when leaving the Maldives.
Hence, the primary agenda of this administration revolves around the globalisation of the airport, he affirmed. However, should these endeavours encounter impediments, the alternative plan entails the establishment of such facilities in Thinadhoo.
