President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the MDP presidential candidate, has announced plans to establish separate ministries for youth and sports if he were to be elected for a second term.

He conveyed this intention during a campaign rally held in N. Landhoo. The move aims to enhance the implementation of youth-focused policies.

Solih emphasised that the government’s historical focus on youth and sports has been limited. He further acknowledged the significance of sports and youth concerns, which currently fall under the purview of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The President pledged that, in his subsequent term, he would facilitate policy enactment through the establishment of two distinct ministries, thereby fostering youth opportunities and nurturing emerging young leaders.

He remarked, “civil society holds a pivotal role in governing affairs. Our commitment involves allocating additional resources to strengthen civil society and provide financial assistance.”

During a gathering with Landhoo’s residents, Solih affirmed his intent to introduce council housing within the upcoming term. Moreover, he disclosed plans to implement affordable co-living spaces and studio accommodations tailored for the youth demographic.

Notable initiatives earmarked for Landhoo’s development in Solih second term encompass housing projects, road enhancements, and the establishment of a football stadium.

Additionally, he intends to implement modern waste management systems, inaugurate a children’s park, establish a fish market, and introduce a 24-hour health centre.
