Presidential Youth Advisors Board Membership Applications Now Open
The Republic of the Maldives presents an opportunity for proactive engagement with its youth as the call for applications to join the “Presidential Youth Advisors Board” is officially open.
In a bid to bolster youth involvement in national affairs and facilitate their contribution to decision-making processes, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu initiated the establishment of the “Presidential Youth Advisors” Board last month. Keeping true to this commitment, the application process for board membership has commenced.
The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts has outlined specific eligibility criteria for potential members. Two individuals from the arts and crafts sector and two from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or civil societies dedicated to youth empowerment will be selected. Both genders will be equally represented in each category. The application window is set to close on the 8th of this month.
Prospective board members must be citizens of the Maldives, aged between 18 and 30, and possess professional skills or experience relevant to their represented field. Additionally, individuals with a criminal conviction within the last five years will be ineligible, as clarified by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts.
The Youth Advisory Board, envisaged to comprise 15 members, will include two appointees by the President, student council presidents from the national, Islamic, and private universities, and two representatives from national-level athletes. Furthermore, the board will feature members from associations dedicated to youth services, arts and crafts, and a student engaged in upper secondary education.
The board’s leadership will be entrusted to one of the two members appointed by the President, who will also introduce a distinctive badge for board members. The move aims to foster a cohesive and empowered environment for constructive youth participation in national discourse.
