The Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, has provided an update on the Ameenee Magu development project, stating that efforts are underway to complete the project before the commencement of the second term of the current school year.

Initiated on the 9th of the current month, the project focuses on the unfinished section of Ameenee Magu, spanning from Izzuddin Magu to the Maafannu area. This particular stretch encountered delays during the transition of governmental leadership, leaving the last two segments incomplete.

Under the new administration, the Road Development Corporation (RDC) has significantly expedited the project. Dr. Muththalib, during his inspection of the ongoing work, highlighted the widening of the last two segments, considering Ameenee Magu’s status as a major bus route. The objective is to have the tarred road ready for use by the start of the next school term.

Within twenty days of commencing the final segments, over fifty percent of the project has been completed, adhering to the outlined schedule. The RDC attributes the swift progress to the relatively low population density in the area, facilitating efficient construction.

The RDC further disclosed that the construction of road pump stations is currently in progress, with some stations already installed. The addition of four more pump stations is planned for the project’s completion.

This week, all necessary road excavation works at the Izzuddin Magu and Ameenee Magu junction were finalized, making way for the road paving scheduled for the next week.

In an effort to address environmental concerns, the RDC assured that for every tree removed during the construction, a replacement tree is planted. This approach aims to transform the road into a picturesque and environmentally friendly corridor.

The Ameenee Magu project, backed by a government investment of MVR 84.4 million, is now advancing rapidly. Once completed, the project will cover a total area of 1.79 km, providing enhanced convenience for bus routes and road users.
