Jointly organised by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and the Maldives National University (MNU), the conference commenced on 8 November. Participants examined barriers to healthcare delivery for foreign residents, challenges in implementing the National Migrant Health Policy, and potential strategies for improving access through inter-institutional collaboration.
The event brought together over 100 participants, including around 50 representatives from provincial hospitals, as well as officials from government bodies, private companies, associations, and health professionals.
At the closing ceremony, Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim launched two new vaccines for the domestic market, the pneumococcal and rotavirus vaccines, which will be available from 10 December.
The conference was supported by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the SAARC Development Fund, and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
