The HPA has emphasised that the norovirus is exhibiting a remarkable capacity for swift transmission, particularly in enclosed or densely populated spaces. Individuals who have been exposed to the virus may experience symptoms within a relatively short timeframe, typically appearing between 12 to 48 hours after infection.
Health experts have noted that the duration of the norovirus within the body is relatively brief. The virus tends to linger for approximately 24 to 60 hours before running its course.
Recently, healthcare facilities have reported a substantial increase in the number of patients seeking medical attention for this ailment. Notably, a significant portion of those admitted and treated are children.

Given the highly contagious nature of the norovirus and its rapid spread, health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and advising the public to exercise caution, particularly in environments where close contact and shared spaces are prevalent.
Proper hygiene practices, such as thorough handwashing, are recommended to reduce the risk of transmission.
