The Road Development Corporation Ltd (RDC) has announced a delay in the ongoing Ameenee Magu development project, citing adverse weather conditions, particularly heavy rains.

The corporation has issued a public advisory urging individuals to avoid entering the area, emphasising concerns about the safety of pedestrians.

Initiated on the 9th of the current month, the project targets the previously unfinished section of Ameenee Magu, stretching from Izzuddin Magu to the Maafannu area. Delays in the completion of the last two segments were attributed to the transitional period during a change in governmental leadership.

Under the new administration, the RDC has made significant efforts to expedite the project. Dr. Muththalib, during an inspection of the ongoing work, emphasised the widening of the final two segments, recognising Ameenee Magu’s significance as a major bus route. The objective is to have the tarred road ready for use by the commencement of the next school term.

The RDC also revealed that the construction of road pump stations is currently underway, with some stations already installed. Plans include the addition of four more pump stations by the project’s completion, further enhancing the infrastructure’s functionality.
