Rehab for 52 First-Time Offenders Ordered in August, Reveals Drug Court Stats

In August, the Maldives Drug Court ordered the rehabilitation process for 52 first time offenders, according to the report released by the Court today.

Currently, there are a total of 1,443 individuals undergoing rehabilitation.
Among them, 560 have not been in rehabilitation for less than a year, while 619 have been in rehabilitation for a period ranging from 1 to 3 years. Additionally, 173 individuals have been in rehabilitation for 3 to 5 years, with 91 individuals having spent more than 5 years in the rehabilitation process.
Notably, 144 individuals have not been sentenced to rehabilitation at all.
An interesting demographic aspect highlighted in the report is the gender distribution among individuals in rehabilitation. The data reveals that a significant majority, 98%, are men, while women constitute the remaining 2% of individuals undergoing rehabilitation.
