President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih pledged to enable civil servants to work remotely during the concluding ten days of Ramadan, during a campaign rally held yesterday at B. Dharavandhoo.

The official manifesto outlines that “the final 10 days of Ramadan coincide with a period when many engage in nocturnal worship. To accommodate government employees, a work-from-home arrangement will be implemented.”

Solih announcement of this significant commitment signifies a reduction in his own working hours during the annual month of Ramadan. Up until now, there hasn’t existed any formal provision or regulation for remote work.

However, if Solih’s assurance materialises, it will undoubtedly provide substantial respite to government employees in the last stretch of Ramadan.
