Applications for the next intake of JDS scholarships remain open until 16:00 on 1 December. The scholarship is available to permanent staff of the civil service, independent institutions, courts, and related agencies, including the legislature. It offers fully funded postgraduate study at leading Japanese universities, with coverage for tuition, travel, accommodation, and living expenses.

This year, six scholarship slots are available across three programmes. The International University of Japan is offering a Master of Arts in Economics and a Master of Arts in International Development. Ritsumeikan University is offering a Master of Arts in International Relations. Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University is offering a Master of Science in International Cooperation Policy.

The JDS programme aims to strengthen human resource capacity within government institutions by enabling professionals to enhance their skills and contribute more effectively to the Maldives’ socio-economic development.
