The government has officially launched the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service in Raa Atoll last Thursday, marking the latest phase in the government’s efforts to enhance inter-island connectivity.

Raa Atoll becomes the second zone under the Integrated National Public Ferry Network to receive the service. The Ministry announced that the ferry service will be provided free of charge from today until 1 July, giving residents an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the service before regular ticketed operations begin on 3 July.

As with previous atolls where the RTL service has been introduced, the first week of operations in Raa Atoll is being offered free of charge as part of the government’s strategy to ease the transition and encourage use among residents.

The RTL service is operated by the state-owned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). Residents can make bookings through the official RTL website.

With the launch in Raa Atoll, RTL ferry services have now been extended to ten atolls. The Integrated National Public Ferry Network is a key government infrastructure project aimed at connecting the country’s dispersed islands through a reliable and efficient high-speed ferry system.
