The Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service officially commenced operations in Baa Atoll today with an initial period of free travel for residents. The service will be offered without charge for the first week, running until August 3rd, as part of its rollout within the Maldives’ Integrated National Public Ferry Network.
This complimentary access is designed to allow local residents to familiarise themselves with the new transportation option before ticketed services are set to begin on August 4th.
The Ministry of Transport has stated that tickets for future journeys will be conveniently available for booking through the RTL website and its dedicated mobile application.

The launch in Baa Atoll marks the complete activation of high-speed ferry services across all atolls within Zone 2 of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network, which already includes operational services in Noonu and Raa Atolls.
The Integrated National Public Ferry Network is a key infrastructure project aimed at connecting Maldivian atolls via a modern high-speed ferry system. The project is being implemented in three phases, encompassing six distinct zones. According to the Ministry, plans are underway to extend these services to the four atolls comprising Zone 3.
The RTL services are operated by the state-owned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
